women in comedy (in a pandemic)

Ladies of Laughter is a safe space for women and non-binary folk in comedy who feel displaced by, or have no outlet for comedy in, the pandemic. Claiming creative space was challenging when we could still be in the same space. Throw in the total schedule upheaval, fewer performance opportunities, and inability to physically gather with other members of the community, and you’ve got a lot of frustrated comedians.

Enter LOL, a group designed to share our experiences and find solidarity, all while doing what we do best: making great comedy. LOL hosts a monthly writing group to let our comedy muscles stretch, as well as a monthly show where we feature sets by female and non-binary comedians and host fun trivia in between. The idea is to have spaces to hang out, play some games, talk about anything we’re working on & get support for it, and in general get support and validation, creatively and personally.
